Follow the Thread Scavengers Hunt

These June school holidays, we invite you on an adventure around Moonee Valley parks in search of uniquely made knitted, crocheted and sown items.

The items in this scavengers hunt have been lovingly made by young people and older adults as part of a new inter-generational project called Follow the Thread run by Moonee Valley City Council and Valley Youth. They have spent three weeks in May meeting, connecting and crafting at the Makerspace at Avondale Heights Library.

The Scavengers Hunt will launch on Sunday 25th June!

There will be 25 items hidden in Queens Park in Moonee Ponds, 20 in Woodlands Park in Essendon, 15 in JH Allan Reserve in Keilor East and 10 in Coronet Park in Flemington.

We’d love to see what item you found! Share it with us via #followthethread and tag @valleyyouthmv, or email youth@mvcc.vic.gov.au

Remember to open just one package, so that others have the chance to find one too!

We aimed to use environmentally friendly materials for this project. We have used wool, thread and fabric that’s been donated by Moonee Valley City Council staff from unfinished projects, environmentally friendly inks and 100% post-consumer recycled paper, as well as biodegradable and recycled packaging.
