We provide loads of ways young people can be involved in
decision making, leadership and representation in your local area.
Here are some ways you can help plan for the future of young people, represent specific groups within the community or organise events for young people in Moonee Valley.
Young People's Committee
Want to be involved in projects for young people in your area? Do you have ideas about how Moonee Valley can be improved as a home for young people? Join our Young People’s Committee!
We invite passionate young people aged 12 to 25 to join us and participate in our community by representing your peers and be actively involved in decision making. The committee meets monthly and provides young people in Moonee Valley with an opportunity to...
- Develop their leadership skills and support youth-led initiatives
- Advocate and inform Council on a range of issues that affect local young people
- Great experience for your resume
- Improve Moonee Valley as a place for young people to live and thrive
In the past the Young People's Committee has been involved some fantastic projects including:
- Youth Forums
- Youth Week Carnival
- Consultations of the Fair Action Plan
- RUOK? Day afternoon tea
- International Women's day art competition
- Engagement with high schools

Avenue Productions
Do you like music or art? Want to make some friends who are into the same things as you? Want to gain experience in the creative industries?
Join the team at Avenue Productions!
We're a group of young people aged 12-25 who plan and stage music, art and creative events.
By joining the group you’ll:
- Get great experience in all things event management, production and design for your resume,
- Get free training in skills you’re interested in, and
- Meet other creative young into the same stuff as you!
We will meet face-to-face on Mondays from 5pm - 6pm in 2022 at the Valley Youth Space in Niddrie.

Avenue Productions is part of the FReeZA program. FReeZA is a Victorian Government initiative that supports young Victorians to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, smoke and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people.

We're always looking for young people to perform at our events throughout the year.

IMPORTANT INFO - PLEASE READ
What happens next?
- All submitted performer applications will be assessed by the Valley Youth FReeZA team
- All applicants will be responded to within the week of the closing date and will be advised whether they have been successful
- Successful applicants will be allocated a performance time and emailed all necessary documents and information
Performer Equipment and Payment Information
- P.A. and microphones will be provided by the FReeZA team
- Payment will be discussed with the FReeZA team
Terms and Conditions
- This event is strictly drug, alcohol and smoking free
- Performances of a discriminatory, explicit or defamatory nature are not suitable for this event and will not be considered
- There will be no venue hire costs for performers
- Photo Release: All performers involved in the event may be photographed or filmed by an event photographer or videographer. Footage/images will be used for the purpose of documenting and promoting activities or for other Valley Youth publicity. These photos may be used on publicity flyers, posters, articles, and advertisements in newspapers as well as on the Valley Youth website or anywhere else Valley Youth may have their programs promoted or recorded.
- Event/Crowd Safety: Dangerous activity will not be permitted at this event. In the interests of safety, artists/performers are required not to encourage dangerous behaviours. Artists/performers will assist event management by following all instructions in regards to public safety issues.
Are you good at stuff?
If you're interested in drawing/designing, taking photos, making movies or anything in between, get in touch with us! We look for young people to get involved in projects and want to pay you for your skills and time. It's also experience you can put on your resume!

GRASSROOTS GROUP
If you're passionate about taking action on our changing climate, join our Grassroots Group!
It's a great chance to voice your opinions and lead other young people to create sustainable change in your community for a big impact. If you want to take control of the future and start grassroots change, look no further than this group!
So far we have led:
- A planting day at the Valley Youth Space
- A clean-up spot for Clean Up Australia Day
- Created a youth feedback session on a new pocket park in Flemington (small park)
- An online campaign for National Recycling Week (check it out below!)
- A terrarium making workshop over Zoom
Our future plans are to:
- Teach other young people how to be sustainable
- Host sustainability events in the community
- Create small change for a big impact!
