Counselling and youth support
Are you going through a tough time at school or at home and want someone to talk to?
Do you have someone in your life you’re concerned about?
Do you want to learn more about Centrelink and how you can access study benefits?
Are you having trouble concentrating at school?
We offer free and confidential counselling and support to young people aged 12-25 years who live, work, study or recreate in Moonee Valley. So if you’re a young person who lives in the area, we have workers that you can talk to! We can come to you which means we can meet at your school, a library, or community centre or we have a private space at our office in Moonee Ponds.
What is Counselling and Youth Support?
Counselling
Our Counsellor offers one to one support for young people who are experiencing difficulties by providing them with strategies to manage day to day challenges. We will work with young people to help them learn tools and develop personal resources and skills to cope with problems. A Counsellor can help with family difficulties, stressful relationships, school stress, anxiety, depression, bullying, sexuality, and isolation.
Youth Support
Our Youth Support Officer (YSO) offers one to one support for young people who would like assistance in reaching their self-determined goals. We can work with young people to set goals and provide practical support to achieve positive outcomes, promote resilience and independence. A YSO can help with things like looking for work, wanting to go back to school, Centrelink support, life skills support, support to better manage finances and support with housing.
Note: Sessions are by appointment only; Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, so get in touch by phone, email or through our website to make initial contact.
